.......but beware some cheapo plastic foam inserts which "sweat" oily liquids that can vaporise and end up all over your precious optics! With time and light, this hardens to something like a thin film of brown gunge - not what you want at all.

Instrument Quality foam is normally used for microscopes and other similar bits of optical kit - places like Jessops used to sell it (when they were still photographic suppliers).
