Comet 103P Hartley 2 - Narrowband with composites

Recommended Posts

103P Hartley 2 Oct 6th 2010

TMB105 F6.2/EQ6 mount

Autoguided by PHD Guide/ST102/DSI-C

21:00 to 23:00UT

HA/OIII/SII/CLS filters

Atik 314L Camera

Processed with a 16.5 degree rotational gradient on the tail, and no contrast enhancements

Layered with Coma and nucleus images (median combined) with starfield (SD combined) in Maxim DL and Photoshop CS5, which I used auto tone/contrast and colour for the final colour balancing

Radial and rotational gradients processed independently using IRIS and Maxim DL (rotation only) values between dr of -2.0 to +2.0 and dalpha of 10.0 to 19.0 all show the tail structure, which is verified also by multiple images from the CARA group. One other post tonight is showing (what I have posted in the third image) a noticeable curve in the tail, this needs more verification as it may be artificial, but we'll see as time goes by

I have included the components used to composite the final image as well
