Yep, I just sat the camera on its back on the ground and opened the shutter for about 30 seconds. It's a f/1.8 35mm lens, so it's very fast and also a wide angle. If the Moon was in the shot it wouldn't be much bigger than the galaxy appears!

No. The Andromeda Galaxy is 3 degrees by 1 degree. The Moon is about half a degree. So M31 is 6 x 2 times bigger on our sky than the Moon. It would be quite a sight if it was brighter... ;-)

Very nice image though! Especially for an accidental shot. ;-)
