Meade 14" +Canon 450D

Hi

Tried out my new 450D on the society Meade last night, focus with the live view was so easy, so next problem on their scope every thing comes out so big ?, so i looked a M45 and a 60 sec exposure at ISO 800 was well iffy, its attached

I need to increase exposure time what about ISO ? as i dont seem to be picking up many stars ?

Try ISO 1600, although longer exposures can be noisy, I try and do 400/800/and 1600 'trials' at the scope to see what they look like and then trial exposure lengths. Is it modded or not? Also maybe trial playing around with the curves and levels in photoshop. Just a newbie but trial and error at the time helps a bit

Did you shoot RAW? I hope so. Have a look at the RAW file with Canon's DPP. Watch these tutorials on how to use it

Looking at your image I'd say the problem for you was the long focal length and limited FOV.

Does the society have a focal reducer, x0.63? This would help to give you a wider FOV but needs attention to the spacing between the reducer and the CCD chip (110mm)
