Big Bang in Cornwall

On the local news tonight they reported that a huge explosion was heard over a wide area in North Cornwall, such was the size of it that it caused structial damage to some buildings (from the vibration), funny thing is that no one can find where this explosion came from, just had a thought that maybe something exploded entering the atmosphere !

It's a really strange event, I'll let you all know if they find where it came from

Weird. I would think that something big enough to do that entering the atmosphere would make a flash that would grab your attention even in daylight, though.

No, sonic boom ruled out, airforce said no planes in the area, theres a lot of abandened mineshafts in cornwall from the early tin mining era, maybe a build up of gas in one of these ?
