Big Spot out today - Rubbish pic

It's a bit rubbish really... I need a shroud off some sort over the camera to be able to see the display... so getting focus was a bit of a mare and I don't think I quite nailed it. I'm also not convinced the little NexStar is up to this... still...

NexStar 60, Canon 450d, 2x TC (1400mm) probably not helped by the seeing, with the Sun being so low..

Is that the same spot from Sunday? It had some nice finer detail around the spot.

I don't know... I have to be honest... I just grabbed a 5 minute oppo before work to grab a shot of it... I've not looked into the details.

Russ... I didn't quite nail focus, I had a really hard time seeing the display on the camera as the glare around the camera made it hard, so there may be more detail around it, that with my 60mm scope and not quite spot on focus is missing.

You've still done a good job John, its a nice image.

I remember getting a sunspot image wasn't as easy as i thought it would be. Focus was a nightmare.

Thanks Russ... I did try again, but the clouds were being awkward with me. Not that in the gaps, the coat over head and camera were really helping that much....

I think you did a fantastic job. Looks really good. I've looked up the NASA effort and they've done just about the same and they have a slightly higher budget . Good one.

Looks like a good shot to me! Tricky to focus while concentrating on dodging clouds.

Mark, I guess you're right... this was shot using a scope, that I got with a powered tracking mount, for £42... so yeah, they have a much larger budget ...

Sheri, just tricky to focus full stop... the clouds make it more tricky...
