Hello

I have just had my dslr moded and need a bit of advice,i took some images of the veil nebula the other night as a test i do have a eos cls clip filter attached.the image attached was 1x6 min exp at iso 800 it was only intended to see if i could see the veil.

I was supprised that it stood out really well ,but the background was still very light almost pink.Is this because it was a too long exp.

Would it be better to shorten the exp length and take a lot of subs.

Or can this be processed in photo shop.

My second question is after stacking in maxim and saving as a fits file, when i open it in photoshop its back to mono and i cant figure out how to get it colour again.

Any hints and tips would be greatly appreciated.

see you all at sailsbury.

Ian

If you save in MaximDL, you need to save as a 16bit TIFF file in order to get a colour version - Maxim uses its own format for colour data.

Great shot as well - best thing to do to balance the colours is to load into PS and set the black point in levels or curves - that should remove the pinkish colour for you!

Good luck!

Cheers,

Richie

Big Thanks

Its amazing how something as little as saving the right file can have so much impact on an image.

I had no idea what to do thanks for the advice Ritchie.

Hears a quick result with black point set.

Very nice - you'll notice a big difference when you start stacking your images up - I wouldn't have thought 6 mins was too long - I'm running at 15 to 20 mins with a CLS CCD clip and the LP is still managable in Photoshop.

Looking forward to seeing your next images!
