If he asks for payment by Western Onion or Money Grab, drop it.

Scammers are all over craigslist.

But it's also a favourite tactic used by scam baiters to advertise stuff like this on market or auction sites at greatly reduced (or inflated) prices to catch cheque scammers. Baiters can usually tell the genuine form the scammer contact by the grammar and spelling, and will let you know it's a joke listing.

Cheque scammers want to pay for goods with a cheque of much higher value than the seller is asking. They ask the vendor to send them back the difference, (mostly by cash transfer but sometimes by money mule) and by the time the victim finds out the cheque is fake or stolen they are long gone. They disappear without even attempting to get the goods.

I bought a 10" Lightbridge on eBay recently for £250 on a BIN. Drove to Wellingborough to find out it was being sold by a foreign gentleman and it was actually an 8".

Got my money back in the end via PayPal, but it took him 4days to refund the money, why couldn't he refund it right away, it got me worried.

But why advertise it as a 10", when it's an 8" - bit of a scam? He said, does it matter? Does it matter!!
