Microsoft H5D-00003 cinema lifecam

From what i've heard, this appears to be the best currently available webcam for astrophotography. (alternative suggestions welcome!) I'm thinking of buying one for planetary / lunar work in my 200p and i'd like to know the sensor chip size so i can figure out what sort of image scale and FOV i'd be getting, does anyone know?

Yeah, i can't find it anywhere either, and i only read on this forum somewhere that it was a cmos chip rather than a ccd. I wish manufacturers would provide more details on their products... i guess they don't think about people like us

Works out at roughly 1 arc second a pixel unbarlowed, and the same FOV as my 8mm eyepiece 2x barlowed. Rather convenient...

What's the difference between the H5D-00003 and H5D-00001 model?

Be careful. I have a Lifecam, and when I ran a windows 7 compatibility check, it indicated that the camera was not compatible.

The later model is probably OK, and if your OS is XP, That's fine too.

Just something to think about.

I have Win7 and the Lifecam H5D-00003 Cinema works fine with it.
