Skywatcher Dual-Speed 2" Low Profile Crayford Focuser - unable to focus

Hi,

Just set up my new focuser but found that there is insufficient out travel to focus my Nirvana and Hyperion zoom eyepieces. They will only focus if I seat them about 20mm out with the draw tube and the extension tube out maximally. Of course the eyepiece is not secure sitting so far out. Wonder if anyone else has this problem and what is the solution?

You'll need to get a 2" extension piece Alan. Its part and parcel of a low profile focuser, better to have problems with out travel than problems with in travel.

Yes, I had exactly the same problem. I bought this extension tube to solve it:

yeah, same here. it's a nice unit despite the need for an extension tube on top of the built in one.

Thank you all for your input. With the additional extension tube, is the system stable and does it have any implication on how one collimates the the scope?

Presumably the 1.25" adapter can be used with the Revelation 2" extension tube?

Hi Alan

I have found it's actually more stable than with the 40mm built in extension fully out. Yes, the 2" extenders will always accommodate the 2" - 1.25" adapters.
