Thousand oaks off axis solar filter

Recommended Posts

Hi all I'm back with another question,

I got the above solar filter with my dob and as the sun was nice and bright today I thought I'd give it a go but all I got was blackness. Am I

doing something wrong, what ep would I get views with I have 9mm 15 mm 20mm 26mm swa or do I need another.

Any advice will be great even if it's get rid of the filter.

Sounds like you weren't pointed at the sun. Use a low power ... any eyepiece that works at night should be fine with an objective end solar filter. Don't expect to see anything except the sun with a solar filter fitted!

The 1000 Oaks is a pretty good white light filter, I have one.

Just sounds like you're not getting the scope aligned to the sun.

Use a low power eyepiece to find the sun then change over to a higher magnification.
