Why does the comet seem to be moving sideways in your timelapse? its tail is not behind its movement

Hello MarkC, the comet is moving along its orbit around the sun, the tail is pointing away from the sun not in the direction of the comets movement along its orbit.

I realise that, but logic dictates the tail must be in the same line as its movement i would have thought!

The tail DOES appear to be moving with nucleus, at least it does to me!

There is no atmosphere to cause a trail to form behind the comet along its path so all particles would continue to move at the same speed as the comet.

The dust of the comet is blown directly away from the sun by the solar wind hence the direction of the tail.

Further the second tail - the ion tail - will also be affected by magnetic effects deflecting slightly differently - something which some high grade photographs will show.
