Views from Les Grange - 1st widefields

Recommended Posts

These are my first wide field postings taken during my recent stay with Olly Penrice at his place in France, Les Granges.

I have been inspired by the TWAN site but have a long way to go.

They were all taken with a Canon 1000D and a Tokina F2.8 16-50mm zoom at around F4 using multiple 10minute exposures at ISO400. I combined them in PS using "lighten" as the blend mode. I've been using the supplied Canon software for converting but wonder if there is better software that anyone could recommend, some of the trails are broken up which I'm guessing happens in the debayering process.

The Winter Milky Way image is a single 25 second ISO 1600 shot

My red head torch features in some images! The work station image is one of 2 permanent set ups, Olly was working with his TEC 140 at the time. The polar trails image shows my set up at the guest's set up site. There is a little LP coming up from the nearby hamlet on the farmhouse shot (the only significant LP here) but these are 10minute exposures!
