What do I need to connect a DSLR (Canon EOS 1000D) and take photos through a SCT?

You will need a Nikon T-ring adapter although the camera model number you have given looks more like a Canon part number

The second item is what you need to attach your DSLR to your SCT the safest way.

I used them to attach my Nikon and take astrophotos.

You will also need a Nikon T-ring on the camera.

Have to say, I'd go with a MaxDSLR and a 2" visual back....

I already have a T-Adapter for the 1.25" visual back but I will need a T-ring. Would it be better to get a Max DSLR adapter instead?

I think with the 1.25" you may well get vignetting (at least that was the discussion I seem to remember having when I was looking at this). Going 2" all the way gives you the largest possible aperture. The T-ring is 42mm clear, but obviously down to 30mm of the 1.25" tube. The 2" is around 50mm

You will need a nosepiece like this T mount adapter or the 2" version. This screws into the t ring.

Yes, the thread on a t-ring is a standard M42x0.75mm pitch, so either could be used with your t ring.

Using a 2" Adapter will reduce the amount of vignetting in your images.

If the barlow has a t thread on the barrel, such as the Skywatcher 2x deluxe, then you can connect the t ring directly to it.The barlow lens will then increase the focal length of the telescope by the power of the barlow. The barlow lens can be used on its own to increase the image size. Some people are using DSLRs that are capable of liveview (streaming video directly to a laptop) to photograph planets.
