DSLR Camera Connection ring

Hi want to know if there is a like tube ring that you can put on your scope that has a connection for your DSLR to do guided wide field photos?

Not sure what you would call it but ive searched and cant find one anywhere.

Do you mean an off axis guider?

They come in pairs and, as you can see, have a camera adaptor on one... You need to get the correct ring for your 'scope though

Thats the sort of thing but it needs to have the camera thread on top not sure if that has

Yes, the knurled screw on top is standard camera thread (or at least I'm pretty sure it is - check with Steve @ FLO before ordering tho)

I now see what you mean. the skywatcher tube rings are sold in pairs and one of the rings is equiped with a 1/4"-20 camera tripod thread to mount your camera on.

Measure the diameter of your telescope first to check there is a suitable size ring. Also remember that if you are planning on doing any long exposure photography using your Meade DS2090 to keep the length of the exposures short to avoid star trails forming.

See I have a single arm alt az mount my tube is conected with a clamshell surely the do them single.

Tube rings are usually sold in pairs because you need two of them to hold a telescope.

They come in pairs... but there's no reason that you couldn't get a set of rings and a medium dovetail and mount that to your AltAz mount Martin... Although if you're wanting to mount a camera on the mount with a lens on it, you might do better to mount the camera directly to the dovetail and fit that on the mount. It'll help with weight and balance.

I did mount my old Z2 piggy back on my Celestron SLT, but that's much much lighter than an SLR.

I would'nt know where to start with that John. I think I just buy the pair and use one around the scope.

I will be upgrading soon to go into imaging properly just wanted to get a taste and use to the camera

How is the clamshell fixed to the mount?

Ah... an older style AltAz mount... Gotcha... ok... I guess a pair of tuberings and clamp one around the scope. If you're planning on putting this scope on a new mount, you'll need the rings anyway.

Thanks all we got there in the end i will order it tonight yea could always use this as a guide scope or something.
