Canon TC-80N3 remote and 450/500D cameras

Thanks to Steve (Skye at Night) who placed a query on another thread I am now able to use this remote on my Canon 10D with mirror up.

However, I have been thinking of upgrading the Canon for astro work and possibly buying the 500D. This camera uses a different plug-in than the N3 on the 10D-50D/7D etc. Does anyone know if you can buy an adapter to convert the E3 plug-in to N3 to allow this TC-80N3 to be used with the 450/500D range of Canon cameras?

If the 450 is the same as the 350/ 300D..... I just bought a stereo plug from Maplin and cut the "three prong special" off the end and soldered the new one on.

There's a website somewhere which shows the details......

Thanks for that link Merlin66. However, I don't want to cut off the N3 connector because I have a RA-N3 remote switch adapter so I can use a LC-1 wireless controller which allows be to take distant wild life photos. I will continue to hunt for an adapter if one exists!!

There are some "adaptor" connectors available - you'll have to google to find them......

I don't want to cut off the N3 connector

No reason why you can't chop the cable & wire in a submin jack plug & socket - allowing you to use the N3 connector if you need to.

I would agree with Brian it's quite easy to do and would allow you to use either or.
