First sketch attempt

Not very good but this is my first ever try at sketching last night it suposed to be orion through my 3 1/2" Meade refractor and a 26mm meade 5000 EP about 8:30pm London

Great first attempt Martin, the Orion Nebula is not the easiest object to sketch and I like the way you've captured the nebulosity and stars.

It's fun, isn't it. I can't wait to see more of your sketches.

Thanks for the kind comments I must admit I was pleased with the outcome once inverted and it does look like how I see it through my scope at 26mm. what I might try next is use a higher mag first off and then lessen the mag out to my 40mm

Nice picture. Looks like you are getting stars down to about mag 8..

This is the LP I have to put up with when I get a clear sky its a council yard and lights up the whole sky

Do the council turn the lights off at any time? If not can you speak to a local counsillor about it? It must be costing them a lot to keep it illuminated.

They on all night every night its a criminal waste of money and the light pollution is terrible, Ive written to a few councilors with no joy.
