Why nebula?

I have noticed below many usernames is the word nebula. Does this signify that the particular user is a newbie. If indeed this is the case, when will I become a Supernova? Do I have to acquire the wisdom of Sir Patrick Moore, or discover a hitherto unknown planet before I am given that particular suffix?
