Debasis
Hi all,I am a newcomer in SGL. By profession a journalist and by passion a sky watcher. Not much is there that I know about sky- but only one thing- that we all share the same one.Joining here to learn the sky more from you all.Debasis
barkis
Welcome to the SGL Forum Debasis. Regarding the Sky. Ours in Cumbria have been decidedly rotten for some time now, and I am wondering when things will improve.Have you any Optical Aid to Astronomy, or are you a naked eye observer? Your knowledge will surely improve, and if you need any help or advice, all you do is ask. Lots of help available to you.Enjoy the forum.Ron. Debasis
Hi,Thanks for the warm welcome. I have been looking towards sky since long but could never go very organized. We have a very small organization called SWAN. (Sky Watchers' Association of North Bengal). Our important previous initiatives apart from regular events- observation-Halley's Comet in 1986TSE in 1995Comet Hale Bopp (Polarimetric study of its tail) in 1997Leonid Shower: 1998-2001TSE in 1999TSE in 2009Next important plan-ASE 2010.I have few simple equipments-1. Meade 10 X 50 binocs2. 5" local Reflector on Alt. Azm mount3. 120mm f/8 Refractor of Orion on EQ5 with Dual Axis Motor drive (Without Go To)4. Few SLR cameras. All from Nikon including one DSLR. (D-50).My home location is Wikimapia - Let's describe the whole world!Because of being at foothills, we get long rainy season, but as a compensation, mother nature gives us here Chrystal clear sky. Though not from within the town, but at a distance of just 10 km, I get even +5 mag stars on any cloudless night.Regards to all-Debasis
