Stellarium question.

Just wondering if you can download catalogues for Stellarium that show objects like Abell Galaxies and Pal globulars etc.

There are a few downloadable extras for Stellarium at present:

1. Landscapes. Main list here.

2. Scripts. Some here.

3. Extra star catalogs. You can download from within the program, but it doesn't work so well.

4. Extra nebula textures. There are some scattered around the web.

5. Plugins. Including the Satellites one mentioned above. There will be a selection included with the next release.

One thing I'm interested in in encouraging amateurs to compile their own catalog of nebula textures. It would be really nice to have a second catalog - I think the development version of Stellarium can now enable-disable sets of nebula textures independently, and there is a GUI control.

The main impediment is placing the images. At the moment there is not tool for this, so it's a matter of entering approximate positions manually in the data files , seeing how they look, tweaking the file and the re-loading. This is very fiddly. At some point in the future we want to implement a nebula editor, but this is not done yet (or even started).
