Pelican nebula (a bit of it) IC 5070

Roger suggested this target and it's certainly hard going. Its an HII ionisation gas cloud (apparently) next to the N American neb but quite a bit dimmer.

Used the NS8 with fastar and Atik 2HS. This is just 5x90 secs with an Ha filter. I was using the wedge for the 1st time but need to run through the PEC routine cos the stars are a bit wonky. Have lots of other subs to do a mosaic but that's going to take some time.

There was very little appearing on screen after 90 secs (which, with the fastar, is equivalent of around 37 mins at F10!!!)

Am going to get a lot more subs. Bit rough and ready but I'm pretty pleased with it so far.

excellent first one of the Pelican Martin , yup tis a hard one to get , but you have done great for the first one mate , good shot ,

Welcome back Rog. Thanks for the positive comments. Rus, the Pelican is BIG so would be great for a DSLR and the ED80 if it is sensitive enough in the red. The Atik 2HS chip is just too small really.
