First DSO - M57

First photo of a DSO - M57 taken on the 24th of May 2009 using my Canon 5D DSLR.

Not great, but it's a start!!

Good start - what scope did you use? I am guessing a reflector beacuse of the coma.

Is that a single exposure?

This was my Celestron 120 Omni XLT Achro on my EQ6 and it is a single exposure.

Focus isn't great and judging by some of the trails in my other shots my polar alignment was less than perfect.

It was also pretty windy up the hills in the early morning this morning...

Should add that I amended the green channel of the raw image in processing.

I'm gonna try a web cam next

what a great start! I remember my first DSO

A webcam will give a much smaller FOV, but should give you some nice results (I started out with a LX modified webcam).

Get the focus closer and throw a few more subs into the pot and you'll have some nice results...

You do realise that you have now been converted to the Dark Side?
