Sunspot number 243 today

The sun looks very interesting today, speckled with multiple sunspots. I had a look with my 70mm ED F/6 with a Lunt wedge and then a Quark. The Ha view is also very attractive, there were a couple of small C-class flares from AR 3639 while I observed.

There are 15 sinspot groups and the Wolf sunspot number is 243. We are probably near the solar maximum!

I saw what I took to be a flare this morning - a much more intensely bright and whiter spot near the largest of the sunspot areas, which had disappeared when I looked again at the sun a relatively short time later. (I'm new to solar observing so I need to get on top of the 'c class' etc. classifications!) There were numerous impressive sights, but then unfortunately the clouds started rolling in...

There is a lovely group I was hoping to photograph, but my laptop won't boot 🤨

Still, a lovely view in the eyepiece.
