Is there a site that gives an indication of light pollution ?

This is the best I've come across and you can incorporate it into your Google Earth...

UK Light pollution Map

There's a link to the .kmz file for the Light Pollution Layer in Google Earth.

Make sure you have installed the latest version of Google Earth first then scroll down the avex-asso page noted above, until you see a link for: "<<Colour Scale>> light pollution map (KMZ file)"

Click it. Download it. Run it.

It should become visible in your google earth control panel as an additional layer, so you can easily search for Dark Sky Spots around the UK.

I use it for all dark sky missions....

Back to the avaiation forecast for something I find useful. The METARS include a figures for actual temperatures and dewpoint. If they are in late afternoon, I expect fog at low level.

I quite like the METARS and make them available on this page:

Current UK weather reports map

Click on the map location and you'll get the latest METAR report decoded, as well as a graph plotting the last 30 days of METAR reports from that location.
