Extra usb3 hub with Eq8 R pro mount?

Hi all, I'm probably being a bit dense here. My question is, 

What is the usb3 hub for that came with my Eq8 R pro mount? There's no documentation for it except an A4 separate piece of paper with pic's on it denoting where you can plug it in to the mount. Either usb2or 3.

The later Skywatcher mounts are including a usb port near the handset port so a simple USB cable can be used instead of an EQMOD/EQDIR cable without a handset.  Whether the USB3 port does the same and you can use either.

If you powered the mount and connected a usb lead from it to a PC and check if they create a COM port connection it would be a good starting point.

You use the hub ports to connect to your other bits of kit, cameras etc so there's only one usb cable going from mount to laptop (using the port labelled USB)
