Sol in H⍺- 16 July 2021

Friday offered some opportunities to observe AR12842 and AR12843 plus a nice prominence on the North West limb of the solar disc. 

Equipment;

• Lunt 60mm TH⍺/B1200CPT scope.
• ZWO ASI174mm camera with tilt adapter.
• SkyWatcher EQ6R-Pro mount.
• Altair Astro 3x Barlow used in all but the full disc image.
• Data acquired using SharpCap Pro.
• Images processed using AutoStakkert 3, ImPPG, Affinity Photo and PixInsight.

 

Images 1 & 2 - The usual overview of the full solar disc. The inverted disc reveals the prominences on show and AR12843 approaching the western limb as well as some nice filaments in the south and north east. 20% out of 1,000 frames stacked. Exposure time 2.2ms, Gain = 0.

     

 

Images 3 & 4 - AR12842 still classified Hsx. 20% out of 1,000 frames stacked. Exposure time 12 ms, Gain = 50.

     

 

Images 5 & 6 - AR12843 classified Axx glowing brightly from flare activity. 124 out of 1,000 frames stacked. Exposure time 10.5 ms, Gain = 50.

     

 

Images 7 & 8 - Prominence on the north west limb and estimation of its height with Earth shown to scale. 20% out of 500 frames stacked. Exposure time 15.5 ms, Gain = 180.

Hi TakMan. Yep started much earlier yesterday because of the heat. Still to process yesterday’s data and the stuff I captured this morning as the Missus has me making rum cocktails 😅

I'm just processing now... (watching the WEC 6hrs of Monza!).... thankfully my (home) office is north facing, so there's still cool air coming in from the window.... 

Will look forward to comparing results later then.... if the rum hasn't taken effect.... or perhaps a Pimms (or two)! 😀🍹🌞
