With OVNI afocal adapters it has always been possible to insert filters between the OVNI-M / OVNI-B and the eyepiece in afocal.

The new OVNI-M afocal adapter will also allow this, as you can see below.

Since the last time I’ve managed to acquire a ES 2” carbon diagonal. Both LongBond and Butterfly have tested the reflectance of this diagonal in the IR spectrum and it gives good reflectance.

With both the Antlia and the Baader H-Alpha filters contrast is improved. 

However comparing with Gavstars chroma filter the Antlia is behind considerable. I do question whether the performance of the Antlia is as speced but without any way to measure the transmission profile this is not available avenue to pursue at this time.

You’d need specialist kit with those narrow bandwidths and very deep blocking values. Top companies provide the spectral data for download in both %transmission and Optical Density units. Chroma do, you could ask the others if they have the data to share. If they stand by their kit then they should be happy to, otherwise we will do comparison and determine the models that heat suit our application.

Joko, I currently place my OVNI-B in to the 55mm pan eyepiece and then the eyepiece in to the filterwheel which the goes in to my telescope focuser for afocal viewing. Are we saying I’m likely to get better(?) results if I place in filterwheel in between the eyepiece and B?

Are they F4 or fast F2 like the new Baader. 

The fast Baader filters work best where the optical path is fast, i.e. after the Plossel.

The slower filters work best before the EP.

I have a little hard time understanding why it has to work specifically at f/3. Antlia's site says it works "down to f/3", so I understand anything slower than that should be fine.

@Highburymark I'd be happy to give you a lift.

 

We discussed this back in February, anyone want to arrange a meet at all?

Unfortunately Orion will be a little low in the sky.....
