Bright Supernova in Virgo - IC3322A

Supernova 2021hiz is now listed at mag 13.3.

The host galaxy IC3322A is listed as mag 13.5 so might be tricky to spot itself. It’s well placed in the bowl of Virgo though.

I managed to see it in my 10” dob earlier in the week

Just picked it up with the 12 inch dob. Seems the same brightness as last time - similar to the nearby mag 13 star.

I had a look at this last night having seen this post. Relatively easy to locate using NGC4365, only a hint of the host galaxy mind you.

Latest shot of the Supernova, still seems to be quite obvious, but totally agree with skyhog in the "only a hint of the host galaxy"!!!
