EQ3-2 polarscope.

Recommended Posts

Just ordered one and the more I read about set up the more confusing it gets. Do I need to use the mounts very inaccurate setting circles? Or once I have made sure the scope is properly aligned to the mount can I just use a polar finder app ? Surely all I'm doing is making sure the mount is as precisely aligned to celestial North Pole as possible for a specific time and date. Am I correct in saying it's just a case of fine tuning alt az bolts? If this is set up can I disregard the time and date on the mounts setting circle

I only use the setting circles to set the perfect home position which is really important if you’re using GoTo, I have never used the settings circles for any other reason.
You need to ensure that the polar scope is correctly calibrated in the mount. If it’s correctly calibrated, use an app like PS Align Pro and just replicate the image on your app in the polar scope. Once done you’re polar aligned.

PS. I think PS Align Pro has instructions on how to calibrate the different reticles and polar scopes
