Macavity
Long time since I did any of this... Remembering how to "do stuff" etc. Started around 8 a.m with an image of the whole disk - using Lunt50 SS: (Right now the LAPTOP has decided to "update since the year dot"?) 🥳 Hopefully more stuff (80mm Frankenscope + Prom Animation) to come later? 😛

Macavity
Thanks, guys! Sorry to hear about that, Charl - I do look forward to your regular Solar Updates! Hopoe you get a new Cam soon. I did manage to stack the prom images used the default AS!3 image sharpener and then HAND aligned them for animation. I sense there is room for improvement. But Intriguing anyway! 🥳 FWIW: Approx. 2hrs of data. 24 frames - Each frame a one minute "stack"! 😏 Edited June 2, 2020 by Macavity
Macavity
<shameless bump> BUT also, at the back of my mind, I had thought ImPPG had a facility to align solar images for animations! So I asked the program to re-align the component images from above - Tediously, and not so well "hand aligned"! 🙄 Clearly (as hoped) the program does rather better! Kudos Filip Szczerek (ImPPG) 😎 (I will now process the images "properly" rather than using quick AS!3 shapening!Lockdown does concentrate the mind... Allows me to try things "I meant to" etc. 🥳 Proimence Animations are now "solved". But I have a question re. Animations: My DISK animations often suffer with significant flicker. Mostly due to clouds and contrails drifting over the Sun during hours of imaging. I sense this could be made a bit better by *normalising* the brightness of the images. Is there a program that can do this automatically? --- Or at least rather better than ME! 😸 I suspect I'll have to "fix" the drift of my HEQ5 too! Tracking drift means that the (now *very* faint!) residual Newton's Rings can be seen drifting over the result. 🤔 Edited June 11, 2020 by Macavity
Macavity
😸 In case anyone was "desperate" for a final result? I did get around processing the images... I used Registax 6 Wavelets for what its worth! I sense my focussing was a bit awry. Still using Lunt50 helical focuser. 🥳 I now note "How to do stuff" using EVERNOTE! (I finally got down to "documenting stuff"... There had to be a use for bloomin' lockdown?) 🙄 Edited June 12, 2020 by Macavity
