Iris without astro darkness

Recommended Posts

Not long before we lost astro darkness I started collecting data on the iris nebula. I plan to get alot of data on this dso, but due to iut not getting properly dark at the moment is there any point in collecting any more data on it?

I was thinking about just shooting it in rgb until astro darkness returns, but would this data hold up with proper luminance once it gets dark again? Or should I just stick to Narrowband targets until August?

I think it might depend on your local light pollution.

If the local light smog is significantly worse than the sky brightness for nautical dark, then you might as well carry on... ;)

Bortle 6 according to clear outside.

I don't know how to calculate any of it :(

But here is a nice write-up of the idea I am trying to convey. :)

Excellent article. I dont have an sqm meter but measuring from my images from last night the sky ceased darkening at approx 1am and started getting brighter from about 02:10. A whopping 1 hour of nautical (ish) darkness.
