First 30 second exposure with Canon 350D...

Recommended Posts

Hello guys, so I just got a Canon 350D followed by a 18-55mm EF-S lens. I just took a 30 second exposure at a F/2.2 and this was my result...

For some reason the image looked grainy and there are white dots scattered around the photo... Obviously they are not stars because there are clouds in the image and it is also on the landscape as well, can anybody help me for any improvements to fix this?

It's common for cameras to have dead pixels so don't be surprised to also see dots of red and blue etc around the image.

F22 is a very small aperture so even at 30 seconds won't let a lot of light through but expected it could be noisy.

F22 makes sense as I dont think the kit lens goes down to F2.2!

Hi

An easy way to lose the noise is to enable noise reduction in the camera's settings. It takes a second exposure with the shutter closed and then subtracts the second -dark- frame from your original. Disadvantage: each exposure takes twice as long.
