binoviewer and celestron 4se - bad combination?

Just a quick question.

Would a binoviewer be too heavy on the back of a Celestron 4se? Would it mess up the Goto?

Some might be too heavy for you to adjust the scope rail far enough back on the mount to achieve balance.

the 4SE is the lighter of the 2 models on that mount, I would say its probably better suited to binos than the 5SE, that having been said, if you think there might be a weight issue then get a small weight on the objective end of the 4SE dovetail to counterbalance the binos, your best bet is to ask in an astronomy shop.

Theres also the fact that the binos split the light beam in two and a 4" scope might give disappointing views on DSOs with only half the light reaching each eye.

Just spent a ridiculous amount on a new eyepiece, so I can't afford to eat this month, anyway.

nah gaz, mine are flne on the little ZS66

Someone suggested to me that the brain might "synthesise" more detail from having the light split between two eyes. Unfortunately I've not been able to put it to the test.
