200p Bahtinov mask tip

Recommended Posts

Just a heads up to all of the 200p users looking at making a DIY Bahtinov mask.

If you can get your hands on a celebrations plastic tub as pictured, it is almost exactly the same diameter as the 200p tube assembly and just slides nicely onto the end of the scope 😁

There are free print out sheets online with the correct sizes for almost any telescope at http://www.deepskywatch.com/Articles/make-bahtinov-mask.html

I then cut out with scissors on the printed paper, stuck that to the base of the sweet tub, spray paint to mark the holes. Removes paper and slice with stanley knife and metal ruler.

It's a nice thickness to work with as it cuts quite easy but is rigid enough to hold when finished

Obviously this will not fit. I'm sure some random product out there will fit!

Need a bigger box of choccies.

As a note, I suppose anyone with the right laser could cut any size and variation of mask. I was thinking of getting a laser engraver/cutter for my business but just could not justify the cost.
