Arp 255 UGC 5304 in Leo

I am slowly catching up sorting through images from recent excellent nights.

This one of Arp 255 is interesting for what else I picked up. The distant quasar is a real bonus.  UGC 5304 are obviously doing a merry dance as they collide/interact. They lie about 560/570 million lyrs away. There are three other galaxies at similar distance so presumably are part of the group. Using the 15"inch Dob does enable these shots in a "short" time.

Glad you're having some clear nights. Here's mine from last year (6 minutes total exposure so more than 3 times yours). Looks like I turned the background up to allow my visual system to catch some of the faint stuff.

Just goes to show what can be achieved with 8" of aperture. You have captured all the galaxies I ringed and also the Quasar. Mike
