Controling eq5 from stellarium 0.19.03

Recommended Posts

Hi Folks,

I'd appreciate it if you could assist. I'm trying to connect my eq5 to stellarium. Im using version 0.19.03. I get as far as connect telescope but when I click on configure nothing happens.

I've got the Synscan unit and hand controler powered up and connected. Do I need to have it actually connected to the mount?

Appreciate your assistance.

Simon

P. S I Can't seem to find a downloadable user guide for this version

This should get you going

1. Open Stellarium and press f2
2. Go to Plugins and scroll down to Telescope Control. Select Load on Startup and the press the  Configure button.
3. Select Add
4. Choose the first option "Stellarium direct through a serial port".
5. Select start/connect at startup.
6. Scroll down and select Skywatcher Synscan v3 or later.
7. At this point you will also need to know which com port the usb-serial adapter has been assigned. Select the com port from the list.
8. Press OK

I feel this may get frustrating. I have had the same kind of problems and the end result was an eqdir cable which didn’t work.

Other members on here maybe able to help you but please provide your mount type NEQ5 HEQ5 and your synscan unit as mine was a V5 not a V3.

Members will also want to know how your hardware from laptop to mount is connected and what connections are use.

Good luck

Thanks Cornelias. I'll give that a try

In the meantime here are the details that Marvin suggested I provided (thanks Marvin)

Stellarium vs 0.19.03

Synscan vs 2.4

Mount EQ5

Connected via provided cable + USB adapter

Thanks for your help

If you have a v2.4 handset, old, not updateable, you might need to select Celestron Nexstar compatible instead of Synscan v3.
