Dew strap for field flattener?

Recommended Posts

Does anybody use a dew strap for their field flatteners? I haven't suffered from dew yet but only been able to image for 2 hours max before cloud stops play so far. I do have a spare port on my controller but I was saving that for the guide scope when I invest in one.

Cheers

Nick

I've not seen or heard of anyone suffering dew on the flattener? It's usually the exposed optics like the front objective that need good dew protection. A coma correcter in a Newtonian may be susceptible to dew?

The guidescope as you point out is a must though!

I get condensation inside the WO flattener when it's permanently setup under a scope cover and have to blast it with a hair dryer, not sure if a dew heater would prevent it unless left on 24/7.
