Update to Win 10 now USB Prolific driver not working....

Hi guys,

Hitech astro USB to serial thingy.  Worked perfectly on windows 7.  I had to update my laptop for other reasons to windows 10.  Now I cannot get the blasted thing to start and connect to my mount...  Doh. on a clear night too....

Anyone got any ideas please?  I have the driver from Hitech astro website and that does not work either.

This game is never easy is it?  I always seem to fighting IT issues....

You will need the FTDI chip lead I am afraid.

I found a workaround a year or two ago but even that doesn't work now.

Get one of these - the other benefit is you can plug it into any USB port and it will know which port its supposed to be.

They can be used, but you must use the older driver, v1180_20170406.....

Thanks guys.   I have a Keyspan DB9 > USB adapter so I may try that tomorrow.

I don't really fancy spending £34 on something that was working perfectly though

I gave up trying to get mine working, it'd work for a bit and then the next Windows update would wipe it out again.

Save yourself a load of pain and get an FTDI lead, they just work.

EDIT: Ordered from FLO.  Will flog the old one.
