filter question

Recommended Posts

I don't use them myself matey although i have just bought a skyglow filter, The Ir filter is used a lot with images but alas i have not tried one so i will let someone else better advise you.

Just taken a look around the Net some of the best Planetry imagers/images have been taken using these filters esp Mars.

On Bern's Modern Astronomy website, he lists this as an option for the Toucam. Apparently it gets round the problem that IR is out of focus when your image from the visible light is in focus. This blurs the image, or is supposed to.

My experience with the Creative Pro EX is that all it does is make the image less bright. I am assuming that the IR block filter is still on the webcam chip, so that in effect I've got two on there when using the filter.

With the bodgy one on my website, everything comes out purple, this is a giveaway that there is no IR blocking filter. I haven't tried this with the IR block filter because I have the "new" ProEX which I bought to upgrade.

WRT IR pass filters, I think I got this off Bern's site too, the suggested method here is to do the luminance channel with the IR bandpass filter and put the colour image on top. The IR apparently is less affected by seeing conditions so you can acheive better detail with the less wobbly image.

Hope this helps

THE IR BLOCKING FILTER IS THE ONE U NEED MARTIN FOR THE TOUCAM ,

NOT THE IR PASS FILTER , THIS WILL JUST RENDER RED, YOU USE THAT ONE FOR B/W IMAGING , TO BRING OUT MORE DETAIL , I USE THAT FOR THE MOON IMAGES WITH THE ATIK 2HS.

YOU CAN TRY THE TOUCAM WITHOUT THE IR FILTER BUT YOU WOULD NEED TO USE THE SLIDER BARS TO SET YOUR COLOUR , A LITTLE MORE SKILL INVOLVED IS ALL , ME I,M LAZY EHEHHE , I USE THE FILTER AND SET THE WHITE BALANCE TO AUTO.
