Help me identify a part

I am considering making a wooden tripod and I can not find what the metal brackets that hold the extension legs secure are called, can anyone help please.

What do they look like? Can you describe them?

Yes it is the metal rectangular bracket that encloses the main tripod leg and the extension leg an usually has a threaded knob to secure the extension leg.

Oh I know what you mean. They're specific to the tripod I think. If you were making your own you'd need to come up with something else.

Thanks for your input, I was hoping they were a normal item as they are used on all different types of wooden tripods.

(in fact, you just need the fixing plates (2 per one leg) with threaded hole in the center  - M8 or M10)...

you can bolt plates together and use the central/clamping  hole for the bolt with the plate on one end, but I could not find any clamping bolts or just flat ends/shoes for M10....

Not sure, - just ideas... and probably wrong ones

Thanks for the info Roland, it certainly looks like they are a specialist part and not readily available, maybe if some of our diy experts see this thread they may be able to suggest something.
