M42 - 25-11-08 - C9.25 + 350d

Normally I would have used the 130mm APO for a shot like this. I bought the C9.25 for lunar and planetary imaging. I have only imaged a few deep sky objects with this scope but I have been pleased with the results. It does not have the field of view of the F6 APO but it probably picks up more fine detail.

10 X 1mmin , 8 X 2min , Canon 350d ( modded ) at 800 ISO

Might try to combine the 1 min exps and the 2min separately to get more central detail.

John

Had a go at making the central area more visible.

Great image, loads of detail and great scale.

On another thread, M42 was described as a 'pigeon', and now I always see that!

His head is the curly bit of the neb top middle, and his wings are spread. :)

Cheers

Rob
