Power Bank for Skywatcher HEQ5 Mount

Recommended Posts

Hello!

I'm looking for a power bank to power a HEQ5 - I had a Skywatcher 17A 12V which I let fully discharge and admittedly forgot to recharge for 3-4 months because of work commitments, bad weather etc...

When I try to charge it now the amber recharge light switches off after 1 second and the unit refuses to function.

Would appreciate recommendations that won't hurt my wallet too much.

Many Thanks

A good and cheap way to power your HEQ5 is to buy a 12v battery, the type which are used for electric bikes and kids cars and convert the existing

power lead or make your own. I have one which I converted and used heavy duty cable ties to make a carry handle which works a treat.

I've just replaced the battery in mine, cost £33 and was a straight forward job. Works perfectly now.

What did you replace it with? I would be very grateful if you could provide a link.

Not the most technical person - but I'm sure I can work out how to change the battery after some reading and several videos. This sounds like the better option as I'm not keen on buying a brand new one...
