Rusted
For those of you catching a glimpse of brightness today [Saturday] Nice spot set in "Saturn" rings right on the limb in white light. More spectacular in H-a. Bar through the spot with parallel, broken filament. Plage area inboard and a prom nearby on the limb. Registax keeps freezing at 87% on "Align." So no images yet. Davey-T
Nice image, typical, first decent AR for ages and endless cloud here and just when the Sun has dragged itself to a decent height. Dave
Rusted
Thanks, Dave. Very cloudy here with only a few blue bits. I was getting some brief but remarkably crisp 'live' images on the laptop during capture. I aimed for a very large Y800 image [just as an experiment] but failed to gain anything very useful from Registax. Re-working it in Photofiltre didn't help either. I can bring out more surface detail but the limb retreats by a several Earth diameters. And we don't want any "Save the Earth!" demos on here, do we? Rusted
After a meridian flip. Over-baked in Registax.
niallk
Caught it briefly through thin cloud between heavier cloud today..! Great to see some activity. Some nice detail in Ha (LS50DS) - the fine filament crossing the sunspot complex seemed to have a significant Doppler shift to the other large filament relatively nearby. Nice prom on the limb near the AR too.
