Adding WiFi To My Canon 600D DSLR

I was out in the garden last week imaging and it was so cold that my laptop froze! I now have a replacement, and as I don't want it to happen again I would like to make the camera WiFi enabled.

Is it just a case of getting an SD card like this one and connecting it to the network?.....

I use digiCamControl on the laptop if that makes any difference.

Thanks.

If you want to go a step further and have live view on a tablet you could try one of these. The only trouble is I couldn’t get it to do intervaolemeter and bulb mode together but you could use something like magic lantern once you’d got focus set. Still at that bargain it’s worth getting on for an extra toy ?

Stopping your laptop from freezing is actually much easier than you'd think.   All you need to do is put it under a cover.    I've done this with the screen closed and controlled the laptop remotely from inside the house.   This way, I didn't freeze myself.

If your camera is usually located within 20m of an indoor location (kitchen etc. then I'd suggest using a program such as BYEOS and one of these quality active cables-

You can then control imaging from the warmth of indoors with no worry over the laptop.

Just to answer your original question - this card will allow you to wirelessly copy off any images that are on the card, but won't allow you to control the camera to take the images.

To use digicamcontrol from inside you'd need to use one of the methods already described; attach the laptop to the camera outside and then remote into that laptop from indoors, or extend the USB between the camera outside and laptop inside.
