Rusted
Hi, A cloudless day here at 55N in CET land until after 4pm. Spent most of the day in the observatory as it crept up from 32F to 40F. The cold had cause some misting of the optics. I should really invest in a hair drier. Proms scattered around the limb. With one consisting of three pillars the most <cough> prominent. My view was sharper than anything on GONG but I can't capture it! All of the proms changed visibly over the hours. Nothing visible on the disk. At least three planes crossed the sun during the day. Caught one of them by accident. The seeing went off after lunch as the sun traversed above the house ridge. These solar images are afocal snaps with a short zoom compact camera. I see a warmer red than this but have not altered the colour at all. [Resized an sharpened.] Took some images to show the intense heat in the refocused image reflected off the internal D-ERF: The first image shows the view inside the dewshield. Instant smoke and burn-through in under a second! The second image is just outside the dewshield of my 6" modified PST. [120mm f/10] Imagine the damage this would do to your unprotected eyes! Never take any chances with solar!
Davey-T
So that's where the Sun that we were promised went to, I blame that word beginning with B that we're not allowed to mention Dave
