Second session this year !

Early start with clear sky , caught the comet in Lynx. Then clouds rolled in , managed to wake up and at 2 , it looked beautifully dark and clear . Gave it a couple of frosty hours before cloud rolled in again. Enough time to visit the spectacular ,

M37 in Auriga , try this at x100 to fill the view. The very similar M67 also looked great.

Another visit to the comet 46P IMG_6596.thumb.JPG.82af8097cff81cb80f25d8aa43eb2583.JPGin Lynx. Whilst there , just a tiny sparkle of the globular cluster ,NGC 2419 , our most distant Milky Way target , way out of the halo.

"La Superba" YCnV, a cheery bright orange star. (SAO 44317)

Iota Cancri , a "winter Albireo" giving lots of colour .( 08h46.7m  +28 46')

Tegmine , just about opened up this triple in Cancer (Zeta 1 and 2), beautiful triple.(SAO 97645)

M94 , bright glow , but not much of a morning as cloud was filtering in here and Leo.

14 Aurigae  , tried again for the third element . This is a quintriple group, mainly visual companions with spectroscopic companions . The main star is an interesting cool white star , arriving at the point when Hydrogen fusion is ending. It was an easy catch in an 8" Newt , also catching a fourth element.(SAO 57799)

Hoping for a great year with clear skies ! Nick.

Great report, Nick. What magnification did you use to get the triple?

X218 gave the cleanest view . Under favourable seeing it can open up at lower magnification,a stirring sight !IMG_6597.thumb.JPG.79db9de255a9b93b118839e8671088eb.JPG
