M31 - Andromeda Galaxy

Recommended Posts

I feel like I've been chasing this target forever, and every time something would go wrong. Finally managed to capture it! Now that I'm sick of processing it, this result will do for now. I was mulling over whether to increased the overall image brightness a bit, but prefer a more contrasty look to bring out the dust lanes. I'm still working on sorting out edge star shapes (could be a focuser or rear element issue).

Equipment:

Takahashi FSQ-85EDX Apochromatic Quadruplet
QHY163M + QHYCFW-2
Chroma LRGB filters
Lakeside Astro Autofocuser
Lodestar + Skywatcher EvoGuide 50ED
iOptron CEM60
Hitec Astro Mount Hub Pro
PoleMaster
Software: SGPro, PHD2, PoleMaster, Stellarium

Lights
•    L: 90*120s
•    R: 60*60s
•    G: 60*60s
•    B: 60*60s

Dark, flat and bias frames applied
Processed in AstroPixelProcessor, Pixinsight & PS
Bortle 5 skies

Feedback very welcome!

That's a great image Syed, but does it have a slight magenta cast?

I think it probably does, but I got so sick of looking at it again and again that I'm going to look at with a fresh pair of eyes later!
