Are the settings below meant to be turned on during deep sky imaging session (using dslr with a reflector and guiding as well, in a bortle 7 site), thnks a lot.

1. long exposure noise reduction

2. high iso noise reduction

3. vibration reduction

clear skies

1. NR = off

2. ISO NR = off (probably)

3. vibration reduction = off (again probably)

clear skies = on definitely

Starting from No 3. The Nikon D5300 doesn't have VR so you can't turn it on or off.

No 2. Off. In fact switch all the auto settings you can find to off.

No 1. Off. There are times when some people switch it on with high ambient temperatures and short single wide angle exposures ( Camera lens on a tripod ). It saves doing darks calibration and only wastes a short time.

The consensus with THIS camera seems to be ISO 200 or maybe 400. That is from owners of the D5300 and not wild guesses from people who don't own one :) Once again you can increase the ISO on short wide angle exposures from a dark site just to get the shadows slightly out of the black ( Black clipping )

There doesn't seem to be a consensus on amp glow. Some see it on exposures over 5 minutes and some claim they don't. ISO setting may play a part.

I don't use a D5300 so can't advise more,

Dave.
