Equipment for the Skymax 127 (az-gti)

Recommended Posts

Hi you lovely people.. ?

Very new to all of this, so started off with my first scope a 127 from Skywatcher.

getting some amazing shots of the moon but would love to see Jupiter, Saturn and Mars etc

What can you advise me on upgrades for the scope, lens etc..

Thank you all..

Mark.

Do you have a dew shield for the scope ?

These are really essential with the mak-cassegrain designs - the attract dew to the front glass meniscus lens and Autumn / Winter can be very dewey here.

Your lowest cost option would probably be to get a basic x2 Barlow lens. Plenty of decent used on eBay for £20-30. This would give you effectively 5 and 12.5mm.

The supplied skywatcher 10 mm is pretty average to be generous so in the same situation the first upgrade that I made was a good used 12mm eyepiece. This gave a vastly improved barlow ed 6mm equivalent. In my experience this is about the limit on the Mak127
