Completely new to narrowband  imaging but pleased with the result considering im using a modded dslr.  3.5hrs of 8min exposures stacked and processed in pixinsight. I used Tgv denoise and unsharp mask both masked but if anyone could suggest any further processing techniques with pixinsight please advise.

Does multi scale median transform work along with TGV denoise ? What about acdnr and hdr mutliscale ?? Sorry not sure if I’ll over do it. I’ve been trying to adjust things but don’t appear to improve

I have the book and it takes you through each process. Perhaps using them all is over doing it. I find TGV denoise is quite good. I use these settings below and they smooth things out nicely. It's best to create a small preview and applying to that. It works faster and if you right click after you can undo and redo to see any changes.

I found MultiscaleLinearTranform to be really useful - here's my cheat sheet for using it...hope it helps ?

1)       MulitscaleLinearTransform (noise reduction – note this tool was designed to be used before stretching)

b)       Create a mask

i)         Duplicate the image

ii)       Open STF and HistogramTransformation and apply a permanent stretch to the duplicate to make it non-linear.

c)       Apply the mask to the h channel (INVERT it)

d)       Open MultiscaleLinearTransform and set channels as follows

i)         1 = 3; 0.5; 3

ii)       2 = 2; 0.5; 2

iii)      3 = 1; 0.5; 2

iv)      4 = 0.5; 0.5; 1

e)       Apply, and then use the same mask above to apply nr to other two channels.

f)        Works equally well with linear and non-linear images.

g)       Good to do it in linear stage (as in this first step)

h)       Replacement for AWTV
